Watch out

Jeff:         What made you think to make a watch out of paper?

Drew: My friend asked me if I wanted one, and I said, “Yes.”

Jeff:         Did you make it or did your friend make it for you?

Drew: My friend made it for me.

Jeff:         What is your friend’s name?

Drew: My friend’s name is Mousa.

Jeff:   Did you guys make the watch at recess?

Drew: No. We made it after school at lunch time.

Jeff:  Would you get in trouble if you made it during class?

Drew: Yes, we would.

Jeff: What else do kids do for fun at your school?

Drew: They make paper telephones, and they play games like hopscotch but different and a bunch of other weird games.

Jeff:  Are you liking school better these days?

Drew: No, not very much.

Jeff Do the other kids in your class like school?

Drew: I don’t know if they do or don’t.

Jeff:  What would make your class better?

Drew: If kids wouldn’t pick on me.

Jeff:  Pick on you?

Drew: Be mean to me.

Jeff:  Like what?

Drew: Like non-stop touching me.

Jeff:  Do they touch less than they did at the beginning?

Drew: Yes. Some of the kids have stopped touching me a lot, and they only do it once in a while.

Game Boy

Drew loves games. He is REALLY into computer games and video games. But he also likes board games. He got this game receintly from Nathan and Stacie Kunkle. It came in a package here in Koutiala for us. He was VERY excited and has already played a couple of times.

What's it like in Kadiolo...

Drew was doing his school work and received this project...

Imagine that your community has no government. Write a paragraph describing what it would be like to live where there are no laws to provide order, safety, and protection of rights.

This is what he wrote...

Imagine if there was no government. Imagine if the police didn't do what they were supposed to do. Imagine if the government didn't keep the roads nice and people would use the good stuff for the road for their building projects. Imagine if the government didn't make any laws about the road so the people drove wherever they wanted. Imagine if the government had no trash system so the people just dumped their trash outside the door. Imagine if the government didn't have any rules about covering wells and the people just left them open. Imagine if the government didn't pave the roads so the road got too bumpy and people had to drive on the side of the road.

Oh wait... that's where I live, Kadiolo, Mali.

Drew's Lego Mini-Walker

Hi Nikos,
I'l like to show you my Lego Mini-Walker. I made it with Joe one rainy day, and I think you have one like this.
I went on the internet and searched for the instructions for my Lego speeder for droids that I lost, and I found the instructions for this too. I don't have the Mini-Walker Lego set, but I found my own pieces to make it.
I hope you will be able to come see me soon.
